It will fit IF you have a cowl hood. Any mount except 6cyl & 307 should be fine.

Ask Mark, a TC member who has done this engine swap into his '72 El Camino SS. Here's his website:

Thanks Gregg, It will fit nicely. I did have to alter the underside of my hood before it would close. I used energy suspension poly motor mounts. I used Dynomax Ceramic coated headers. The head bolts on the Ram Jet are different than the old style head bolts on a Big Block. The header flanges hit the lower head bolts. I had to grind a notch in the flanges at each lower head bolt. I think Gregg ran into the same problem. I have had no problems with them, I just didn't like the idea of grinding on a new set of headers. Especially a set of Ceramic coated headers. You might check with different header companys to see if they make headers to fit a 502. I don't race, but I do drive mine every day. It's an awesome driver. It's a pretty strong engine in my opinion. I am running a stock turbo 400 and a Eaton posi-trac 3.31:1 rear axle. If, I drive it right, which is hard to do, it will get 19 MPG. My camino weighs 4400 lbs with me and a full tank of gas. There are more higher horsepower engines out there that hit harder and sound better. However, there are not many 500+ horsepower engines out there that will get that kind of MPG. If you want a reliable driver, fuel injection is the way top go in my opinion. I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have.........Mark graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I put a Ram Jet 502 in my 70 Chevelle using stock height motor mounts same as Mark's and Hooker 2" comp headers. The super comps will hang pretty low and make access to a couple plugs difficult. You'll have to modify the flanges due to the funky head bolts. Do that before you have them Jet Hot coated and you'll never know. As far as the hood goes, minor mods will make the stock hood work. I put a Glasstech hood on mine with the webbing removed except for the perimeter. I've got tons of room. You obviously dont need the air cleaner portion. If you don't want an external fuel pump, very minor mods will make a Grand National tank, sending unit and pump work well.

I put one in a 70 SS. Domed hood w/o cowl induction, and is an AC car as well. I used the hooker competition headers, and had a gas tank with fuel pump built in made by rock valley antique auto parts. Mr. elky 72ss454 was a huge help on this project!
