I was looking at the Weiand Stealth for my 396, but I'm not sure Ilike the design ( from a looks standpoint, NOT performance ). Has anyone used a Weiand Action Plus ( oval port )? I was looking at one in Performance Improvements in Brampton, and I certainly like the look of the manifold.

Are there are performance issues, perhaps some porting to be done before install? My 396 will be a fairly mild buildup, with cruise night driving and the occasional nice weather day.

Just so I don't have to edit, this is what I'll have:

396 ( 402 )
10.25:1 CR ( stock )
Comp Cams XE268H
Oval Port heads with some mild porting and 2.19/1.88 valves
Holley 770 Street Avenger
Hooker Comp Headers
Carter Mech. Fuel Pump

Good or bad manifold? Please keep in mind that the placement of the vacuum port is important as well, otherwise I'd just use the Performer RPM that I have.

Thanks guys.

I bought one for my 427. It's sitting in my den at the moment staring at me. It's basically the same manifold as the Stealth but with a smaller plenum volume, and smaller runner cross sections. Should work really well.
However, the port mismatch is terrible, and I almost returned it becuase of this. I will be port matching, but two of the runners are almost not correctable. The casting is also not as nice as the edelbrocks.

I bought an Edlebrock, then sent it back beofre I even put it on. Yes, that bad.

I bought a Weiand and have never looked back. With both my Chevy oval ports, and my Merlin oval ports. No worries.

BB Mike, I just checked out your site graemlins/thumbsup.gif . Is that the Action Plus on your motor?

Thanks guys. I ran one on my previous BBC and it was a great intake. I ran 12.30s with a 9.1 oval port engine. everything stock except mild bowl work.

If your choice it to buy the weind or use the Edelbrock that you own I would save the cash and use the E-brock.

I've ran an Action-plus, one of the best street intakes I ran. Very responsive. I resently changed from a Action-plus to an Excellerator(spell check) because the Action-plus was slightly higher and held my hood up slightly with the thin nitrous plate. It clears now but I had to re-jet the carb 4 jet sizes higher to get back most of the response and power but I still feel the Action-plus was much more efficient. I also ran the regular Edl performer-O which worked well but didn't feel as good as the Action-plus. I've ran the Stealth on small blocks and was pleasently surprised but haven't had the chance to try one on a BB yet.
