: Track results + New bests !!
After my disaster day 2 weeks ago, I went back out today and beat all of my previous bests. graemlins/hurray.gif
Out of all of my runs today, here are the new best incrementals:
60': 1.722
1/8th mile: 7.885
1/4 mile: 12.274 (ran a pair of 12.30's also)
MPH: 112.05
Car felt strong and hooked great. I am very pleased to end the season this way after I crushed all of my previous best times. I lost in the 3rd round though, wish I could have made it through that. I would have loved to have run a 12.1xx before losing, but at least the stick shift survived and I drove it home smile.gif
Ed showed up as well. He ran an astounding 10.375 @126.44 with a 1.389 60' time.
10secBu Nov 15th, 03, 3:49 PM Congrats Jim! That's some impressive improvement over your previous best graemlins/thumbsup.gif . Glad to hear that happened after your recent troubles last time.
Also, congrats to Ed on his new bests. Do you know if he was running his ATI converter or testing the BTE?
Thanks Todd.
Ed made no mention of a convertor swap. I asked him how the trans was holding up in normal conversation and he said fine. I will have to assume that no changes were made, but I'll ask him.
BigRed-L72 Nov 15th, 03, 4:07 PM graemlins/thumbsup.gif nice improvement
kjett Nov 15th, 03, 4:48 PM Jim,
Congrats on the new bests! Anytime you can pick up .25 in the 1/4 you gotta love it. What do you attribute the gain to? Glad to hear Ed's car is performing well. Was that deep or shallow? ;) Once again he's raised the bar. That's good, gives us all something to shoot for. Also, what was the weather like there this weekend? I'd love to run my car in some -1,400' air like you guys had last weekend. Again, congrats graemlins/beers.gif
-SS454- Nov 15th, 03, 4:55 PM Nice improvement. Done with a 4-speed. Im impressed smile.gif
Those ed's times, are those deep-staged/altitude corrected like the rest of them? Or is that whats said on the timeslip.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
I attribue the gains today to:
1) staging at 160 instead of 205. I ran an electric pump drive today and was able to cool it down between rounds
2) The air today was real good
Ed's times were actual as printed on his timeslip on a standard shallow run.
The run prior he staged deep and ran a 10.46. He then staged shallow and ran the 10.375. It was good for about .09. I saw the run and saw the timeslip. All legit.

Bob West Nov 15th, 03, 6:55 PM I'm guessing now that he has the timeslip to prove it...we can put that to rest ;)
Dang,,,I forgot to congratulate Jim graemlins/beers.gif
427L88 Nov 15th, 03, 7:10 PM Ohh baby! Now we'd have a real race on our hands! Excellent Jim graemlins/thumbsup.gif
And read some of that other thread. Man, am I glad the soap opera doesnt happen here anymore.
Jim, how are you launching the car?
Bob West Nov 15th, 03, 7:54 PM Always got to get your sniveling .02 cents in,don't ya Gene? That post about you throwing the kid a quarter wasnt any better,,,why don't you leave well enough alone. If ya aint got nothing nice to say, keep your cheap shots to yourself. Nobody makes fun of you and the way you look in your car in the water box pic...talk about a lost look on your face tongue.gif
Ok, everyone simmer down, don't spoil my high ;)
Gene, I did my standard launch, but upped it 300 RPM. Tires at 12 psi, big burnout and hold it @3800 RPM. Sidestep the clutch and floor it at the last yellow.
Edit ** Gotta update my sig before I post again ** graemlins/clonk.gif
BB_Mike Nov 15th, 03, 8:09 PM Good Car
Great Combo
Awesome driving!
I'm happy and green with envy.
mr68 Nov 15th, 03, 8:47 PM great job my fellow 4/speed man, you should let the clutch setup cool off for at least1/2 hour between rounds. your clutch will live longer. you will be in the 11's soon. ray

Hey there BB_Mike. Where have you been? Thanks for the kind words.
Todd, Ed's convertor was the ATI that he had been using.
427L88 Nov 15th, 03, 9:11 PM Boy, now there's a thought. Last time I ran I had four runs in in a a matter of 20 minutes. Hmmmmm, wonder if that had anything to do with missing 2nd the one time. Excellent point Ray.
Gonna be alot more 11 second stick cars around here soon! smile.gif
Jim, a bit premature, but any thoughts on where you might be able to grab the next - .25!?

I got a couple of ideas that I may try next spring. No engine changes, just tuning, tires and suspension. Shooting for a 1.68 on the 60'. If I can get that, then a 12.1xx will be in the bag.
chvl71402 Nov 15th, 03, 10:24 PM Jim,
Congrtas on the new bests! Must feel good to post such an improvement. There's more in it. Now you can spend the winter thinking of how to get it. Thats what it's all about. Great times.
ak69 Nov 16th, 03, 1:01 AM Jim, Congrats on a good day at the track. New best, clutch dumpin fun and nothing broke! Got to love that! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
427L88 Nov 16th, 03, 8:01 AM Jim, no doubt it will be a hard .25 to grab, I don't think anyone here would argue that. To my mind's eye , your 60'fts are AWESOME for a non-race clutch car. And, while there isn't much to back this up, you start 60' much better and something is going to start breaking.
Don't know about you, but I'm pretty happy with 12.20s from a pure street stick car!
Anyway, I don't mean to take anything away from the moment! Nice stick work man! graemlins/beers.gif
mr 4 speed Nov 16th, 03, 10:31 AM Jim,congrats on your new best!! That is absolutely friggin' awesome..sweet 60 ft. too!!
 graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Chris,
Thanks for the kind words. smile.gif
mr68 Nov 16th, 03, 7:34 PM the past couple of yrs , i would make back to back passes, and was going thru clutches and the car was getting harder to shift as the day went on. this yr i waited at least 1/2 hour between passes actually felt the set up to see if it cooled off. my patience was rewarded with 6 clean passes all between 11.2 and 11.6 at120/121mph and 60 fts 1.62. back on the trailer nothing broke. very happy. i wonder if any of us 4/speed guys will get into the 1.5 60 fts. if i do i'll be in the 10's. ray

My goal is high 1.6's I don't think my M-20 can handle propelling a 3900# load 60 feet in 1.5 seconds. I still dream about getting out of the 1.7's. :D I wish you luck though. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
