Been looking at this engine some, and would like some feedback as to what you guys think about it. I want to call the 383 stroker guru, Matt Walsh, armed with questions. I've got a small list of my own and would like to know what you guys would be asking.
Check out their site, there's alot there.
Thanks a lot.

$5400
JMHO and experience...you could build one for far less or a big block for that matter without sacrificing reliablity or quality.
450 HP/450 ft./lbs of torque isn't hard to achieve, especially with a stroker small block and certainly doesn't cost that kinda money.

Must be some strong motor to be dynoed all the way to 9000 rpm....

Looks like their dyno numbers are the result of DD2000 or similar program. They aren't going to run a stroker up to 10 grand.

The grid itself that they show the horsepower graph on is straight from Desktop Dyno 2000. Count on actual power numbers in real life being a good bit lower than the optimistic computer sim numbers.

Their dyno notes don't even correlate to what is included in the engine package. Different carb, different intake, etc.

Hey thanks for the input. In my initial email contact with Matt last week, he said that they no longer use the 750 cfm and that the site needs to be updated to read 800 cfm. Not sure about the intake but I will ask about that and what the actual HP and torque that I would expect to see right off the engine dyno.

I used their spec sheet and priced the components that they list in it using Summit's latest catalog. I added $200.00 for misc. stuff and parts shipping. I came up with about $4000.00 NOT including a block or any machine work. So that leaves $1400 for a block, and all machine work, assy, dyno time... Also, their site says that if you order on line you get $150.00 off. Shipping is free. And the xmas special of a free mini starter. Not trying to justify it, just statin the facts. Any additional feedback would be great. Thanks to all.

Thats sounds kinda steep for the power made. I bet I am making close to those numbers for about half the investment. I spin mine about 6500 RPM.

Only the Etecs are 64cc IIRC. I doubt they are Vic jr heads....
$5500 for a scat 9000 crank and hypers...
I started with a bare block and didn't spend that much.
Pass unless you want a bolt in solution. With questionable build quality.

You can build better for the same price.
You just have to shop.

Scat rotating assembly with FT pistons & 7/16 cap screw I beam rods. Forged if budget allows. See Wolfplace for a good deal.
As long as the cams not too big, You can have him balance it too.
68cc heads preffered
Canfield 200cc heads bare and set up by a competent shop. Or Dart 215's. 200's with a little work. From Summit Or AFR 195's from Wolfplace.

750dp used in good condition.
RPM or air gap intake. Used, people think they have to have the air gap.
You can put MSD parts in a used HEI or $300 for a ready to run that's real easy to adjust.

4 blt blk. w/ maybe arp bolts.
Melling M55a and Milodon Hobby stock pan.
Compare a Dynagear to a Melling on the inside and you'll see the diff.

Bearings $90ish
Felpro gaskets $100
Freeze plugs and Cloyes TC. Either the $20 HD one or the $70 one.
Pushrods $80-$120-see what fits first

Cam- XE 274 minimum. The old UD 288/296 hyd would be good too or a new voodoo hyd in the 230 @ .050 range. Make sure heads are ordered with correct springs for cam.

Personally, I'd go with a 276/284 or 280/284 Lunati solid.

I think you can buy a GM crate 383 and swap heads/cam intake for a similar price.
