Well about 4 months ago my dad bought a 1973 Chevy 3/4ton truck to tow our race car around. It came with a 402 BBC and was a little tired. He has worked to carpet the inside of the bed for all of our race supplies. The paint and outside of the truck is white and beautiful.

Well he finally went down and bought the 454HO motor for it. 454 Crate Motor (http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/ChevyBigBlockV8s/ho454.html)

He got it from a local dealership here in southern california for $4600+tax. The guy still gave my dad the $100 off he told us that he would at the NHRA winternationals. The motor comes complete with intake, flexplate, damper, and even spark plugs. Just need the distributor, carb, and exhaust. It also is the GenV block and can be used with a mechanical fuel pump.

426HP and 500ft.lbs of torque on 8.75:1 compression. :D Plenty of power to tow the race car around...oh yeah and best of all it comes with a warranty. graemlins/hurray.gif

That's a great engine. Practically bullet-proof.

We just put that same motor in a '66 4 spd car. Real pleased with performance and manners.

Yeah...I think we will be please too. The 500Ftlbs or torque should allow for easy towing of the race car. We were orginally going to build a motor, but we figured that with that motor coming with a brand new gen. V 4-bolt main block, forged steel crank, forged connecting rods, forged pistons, rect. port heads, hydraulic roller cam, aluminum intake, water pump, and everything else, there was no way we could build that for less than $4600 which is what we bought it at. This is what I love about chevrolet, performance crate motors at reasonable prices!
