Looks like its going to be a handfull...
Just a quick (uninformed) question,
What are the hoses leading from the valve covers?
Is that for a Vacuum pump? Ive seen them on a couple motors now, and am still confused.
Ive also seen them go from the front of the intake water jacket to the back... what the heck is that for????

[/hijack] I believe those go to a breather cannister.

They could be header evac system...it uses the exhaust flowing from the collector to evacuate the crankcase.

It appears to be going to the intake at the base of the carburetor. This does provide some vacuum and is probably somewhat effective. The jury is still out on vacuum pumps as we just added one on my sons Chevelle but can't tell any difference yet. "Nice car". Give us some times when you get it to the strip. P.S... I love red cars.

Hello all,
Thanks for the compliments!! This car has been a long time coming and I'm glad my 'street car' is finally almost done!!
As for the hoses, there are two sets on the motor. One set goes to each valve cover and are routed to the collectors for evacuation purposes. Those will be coming off since I've been told the header evacutation systems don't work too well with mufflers. I'll be using a vacuum pump instead.
The other set is on the intake and each one ties the water jackets in the front and rear together. I don't really know what they do, but I've been told they help balance the coolant flow in the motor, although I don't know if they mean for flow or temperature.
Hopefully this helps and if you have other questions, please ask!!
