My bud took his shaft :D down to a truck shop to shorten the shaft for his TKO conversion in his Buick GS. They told him they cant use his old d-shaft b/c the larger universal that goes with the yoke would fit with the smaller OE shaft?
Dont they have a special joint for this, the kind that has 2 different sizes on it?
They also want 200.00 to shorten it so I think its coming out of there anyway.

yep, there is one.
Have it on the front of the front shaft on my 59 Elky.
I just know it as a big-n-little u-joint.
But this joint is also used OEM on some Broncos and Jeeps

Yes they do, it's called a conversion joint. However, the joint is only as strong as the small side. Not that it's bad just that you lose the benefit of the larger yoke.

Are we talking about the pinion or trans yoke? I have an extra 1330 pinion yoke, which is wide spacing on the yoke with small bearing caps.

This would be for the trans yoke, and he has that already.
I did a search and was able to come up with a part # for the universal. He gave the shop that #. Let's see what they have to say.
