I recently installed an electric holley blue fuel pump on my 454 and I have a question on the wiring. Right now I have it rigged just for the break in. Now that the break in is complete I want to do it the right way. I tried running it through a fan switch but I couldnt get it to work. I have it rigged so that the ignition wire runs directly into the positive wire for the fuel pump. Ive heard that this can burn up the fuel pump. Any suggestions on how to wire this thing up?

If you have it wired to turn off with the key, mine was wired like that for years
with no problem. I now have it wired to a painless panel, if your concerned you
could put a relay between them.

use a relay (or2for a redundant option) wired to turn on with the ignition.
you can use a "Driving Lite" relay that is sold at checker or autozone for about $6.
it even has wiring instructions. i've used these for years on various circuits including a holley fuel pump, never had a problem using only one relay. use a fuseable link or a fuse to protect circuirt/wiring from a short. :)
