this transmission can support the power of BB454 (500 HP & 500 lb/ft).

no not a chance especially if it hooks up at all.

well, it will probably live for a while, depending on condition, power and traction.

The factory only put Saginaws behind low HP engines, using the Muncies for high HP and all BBs.

There's obviously a reason the factory did this...

I had a decent 305 in my '71 C/10 that blew the front bearing retainer out of a Saginaw 4 speed. Truck ran 16.70's with that combo. Replaced it with my trusty 331/Super T-10, much more fun.

Sure it can!! BUT only until it hooks!!

I have a buddy that put alotta money in a ride like yours and used the 3.42 or whatever low geared Sag. tranny and it spun through low gear and held him fine!!

He swore by it but knew that if it hooked he would have to get a different, stronger tranny..

I had a saginaw in my 66 convt until it grenaded if you pay the shipping you can have it (weighs about 200 lbs) replaced it with a M-20 and no more problems was able to reuse my hurst shifter-just needed a new rod kit and the clutch splines are the same and so is the driveshaft. My car has a built 350 but no where near the torque of a BB and this was on street tires and not abusing it at all.

I once had a '68 SS396 that ate Saginaws for breakfast. I couldn't afford to have my Muncie fixed, so I kept putting $50 Sag's behind it to get me back and forth to school and work. Those transmissions were worth every penny. They usually lasted until the second or third time that I "got on it".
