: Spring rates for BBC

After searching and reading many many threads about spring rates for a more modern feel suspension I still have a few lingering questions...
First my application:
1969 Chevelle SS396 - current stock (heavily sagged) springs all stock suspension. 1" front sway bar, no rear sway bar.

So, from what I've gathered though searches... I need to look for a 5" x 9.5" spring for the front and a 5.5" x 11" spring for the rear (common sizes through searching)
I've seen BBC guys going with anything from a 550# to 750# front spring and 125# to 200# rear spring.
I realize that there's no 'perfect' choice but I'm merely looking for a starting point. I DO have a BBC, so I can't use the Eibach Pro springs that SCandC recommends on their website for use with their Street Comp kits.
I plan on using their StreetComp Stage 2+ for the front and the Currectrac rear control arms.
I'm looking for a good starting point, taking into account my current roll bars, increased BBC weight and future suspension upgrades.

Also regarding the front and rear springs... I'm lead to believe I'll be looking for a single pigtail rear spring in conjunction with an F-Body spring spacer/isolator and a double flat end front spring.

I plan on gathering more information about proper shock selection once I have my inital spring rate suggestions. Useage will be mainly street, occasional AutoX (about 6 times a year) hardly any drag racing.

Another question I has was tire fitment in the front with the AFX spindle and Stage2+ SCandC kit... I would like the 275/40-17 to fit in the front, and 295-315/30-17 for the rear.

Long post, Sorry. Just need a starting point on spring rates so I can move forward with planning:confused:

Thanks in advance!
Dan

I would lean toward the heavier spring in the front since you plan on auto crossing with a BB.

I am going from factory stock Moog springs to 800# springs in the front. 470 BB, supercharger weight, and the Merlin Grumpy (iron oval ports) make for one heavy front end beast. (no autocrossing...just a lot of fast cargo trips to Lowes!)

Out back I am going from factory stock Moog springs to 175#.

I basically have same tire/rim size as you.

Vehicle not back on road yet, but I choose these spring rates based on searches here.

Good luck.

I have 750# on the front of mine with a sbc and to be honest i wish i had gone stiffer...with a big block I would look at 800+
