Yes, I have a true double roller under a stock cover. Cloyes is a good brand, thats what I am running.

Yes, a double roller will fit under a stock timing cover. On some blocks a bit of grinding may be needed at the center oil galley. If you expect to be changing cams or changing the cam advance, a two piece cover is nice. Otherwise, a stock cover will work fine. Two piece cover are more likely to leak.

I suggest using a Cloyes Hex-A-Just timing set. That way you can dial in the exact advance you want. They are expensive, around $100. If you don't want to spend that much, a Cloyes double roller or true roller will work fine. I'm sure other brands are good too, but I'm only familiar with Cloyes.

awesome,
just a side question, why would i need to advance the cam? cant i just advance it from the distributor after all is said and done?

Ingnition and cam timing are seperate from each other, Cam timing is the relationship between seat timing events to crank degrees and ingnition
is spark in relation to crank degrees.

Hope this has helped you out.

Edelbrock also makes a nice,Tru-Roller chain set.
And remember, when you've got the sprockets facing "dot to dot",the engine is on the firing stroke of number 6,,,NOT number one.
Number one is on overlap when the dots are lined up. graemlins/beers.gif
