I was thinking about putting in the B&M Pro Stick shifter. Their isnt alot of info about it on B&Ms website. Does it have the ratcheting action? And stuff like that, if anyone out their has any info on this shifter it would be a great help to me.

The Pro Shifter is not a ratchet. I'm using one in my bracket car. It works fine and has been trouble free.

you can shift the gears manually right? without hurting the shifter that is.

Or is the shifter never capable of being in Drive. And you always have to start in first and so on.

Sure. From 1st to 2nd just push the shifter. From 2nd to 3rd, hold the lever and push the stick forward. There is a neutral lockout so you can't hit neutral when shifting. The little lever at the front, is the reverse lockout. You pull it back when in neutral then push the stick forward. It might be a bit awkward in a street car.
As for driving in drive that is determined by how the trans is setup. With manual valvebody, yes you have to shift it yourself. With an automatic automatic, drive works just fine.

I drove my 67 for 10 years with a Pro Stick. I never had a problem with it. It's a really good shifter. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Do you have a bench or buckets? The only concern I would have is that if you have a bench seat, you might have to mount the shifter farther forward than you would like in order for the shifter to get down into first gear. If you have bucket seats, bolt it down and start banging gears. graemlins/hurray.gif

I put on in my 67, the only problem I had was with the mounting bracket for the nuetral safety switch and reverse light microswitches. I had to modify it a little, other than that I'm very happy with it.
