I cought a great deal on a ATI damper(ex.ballanced)and I'm looking to swap the one I have now on the 383 to this one.The deg's on the ATI unit are much easier to read.
Can I just swap them ,or do I need to have the ATI unit ballanced to match my other one?
Thanx.

As long as your 383 is externally balanced,it'll be fine. Steve

Do I have to hone the dia of the damper to accept the crank,or can I get away with not going thru the trouble?

The only way to tell is to measure the crank diameter and measure the internal diameter of the dampner and compare that to the ATI Specs.
You didn't mention if the balancer was new, so be careful and make sure the dampner has not Already been honed out possibly too large for your crank.
