I got one of these from a friend who blew his 440 up after only a month of use. I don't plan to race, just have good spark at highway speeds. What's the difference from a MSD-6?

MSD 5 is inductive; MSD 6 is capacitive discharge.

The 5 is a great street oriented box but not the best choice for a true performance-oriented engine. Some will say there's no real gain over--let's say--an HEI. They may be right.

5 won't work with HEI--at least not for long, if my experience means anything. I bought one in '78 or '79, to use with a Mallory Unilite. I used it on several vehicles after that, including a Honda Civic, until it blew up a couple of years ago when I tried to use it with an '88 1/2 ton pickup HEI system.
