I finally got hold of some history on my car. The last owner was the second owner. He has pics of the car through the years as to anyones doubt about it being a real SS. A school teacher bought it new and traded it at a dealer ship. The last owner not the ebay owner but the last documented owner drag raced it for a few years. So my real question is the car is originally puke green non console shift on column SS. Should leave it or change it to Black on black bucket console car? What is worth more? I only have original rear so no engine. Engine might be 496 or merlin 572, both aluminum headed. Might go 4 speed so net worth will be more. I really like this damn thing more everyday and really have no clue why i keep asking worth. Of course it will be a rotisserie resto. I also like the green color and every other chevelle is black so i think something different is long over due.

In reference to your signature, you might have a Pony car buying problem but you can never have too many MUSCLE cars!!

No real documentation on being an SS I would paint it what ever color that makes you look at it twice. Black 69s look awsome but it just needs dusted off after every 100 feet.

Paint it what ever color turns you on. If you're going to keep it.
But....... Original factory colored cars are far more popular and have a higher re-sale value than the run of the mill Porche red ones.
Now, Lime Metallic ;) That's HOT!
A nicely done black 69 will usually sell okay. As said above though it is a tough color to keep clean. The greens seem to be pretty strong these days though.
I think in general as long as the color is not revolting, on a non number's matching ride quality will be the object to persue. A few added options like buckets and a 4 speed will help too. That's my perception.

SS or not without any real proof shouldn't enter into the decision of how to do the car because without proof it's just another Chevelle and there's no reason to try to keep it original.
If the plan is to sell it then paint it any popular "re-sell" color.
If the plan is to keep it then paint it a color YOU like.

The latest Hemmings Muscle Car mag has a pretty nice "green" '69 in it..............

Sadly only thing i have as far as docs are word of mouth. The last owner did tell me he had it for 25 years and it was real. He even claims to know where the car was bought new. This guy sounds like a straight up dont bother be anymore i have a job type dude. It was very hard to get him to return my phone calls. He lives in danville KY and invited me to get some pics and trophies from him for the car.
