I have searched everywhere for this fitting. On the inlet on teh carter 172GPH mechanical fuel pump there is a 10AN fitting with a copper crush washer. I want to convert it to 8 AN. WHen i unscrew the fitting it is straight thread not tapered. I have looked everywhere but can't find a fitting for this? any help is great

Cody, I had the same problem! I took off the bottom plate and retapped the 9/16-18 hole for 3/8 pipe (also 18 threads per inch) and used a #8 to 3/8 pipe fitting, alot easier to find.

I know they make a 10AN to 8AN reducer, but on my 'velle it was too big to use it came too close to the frame rails. I don't recall exactly what I did to get the situation fixed (and the car is in storage now, so I can't look). I bought the reducer from summit or something like that. It just screwed over the 10AN and had an 8AN fitting on the other end, was like ~$18 IIRC. its a kinda bulky piece though.. maybe someone else can think of a better way, I really wish I could remember exactly what I ended up doing in the end..
I did end up using a 8AN to 1/2" hard line connector but I am drawing a blank on what I did at the pump..

my setup was reccomended by Tom aka MC71454, its the same setup he was using with the 454 combo he had prior to the 540 he has now. it fits just fine on my 66 bb car and looks and works great, i have the pump clocked as shown in the picture below.

the pictures shown are Tom's, if you need any advice or parts give Tom an email. hes a great guy, and will help in any way he can.

it consists of:

inlet
stock 3/8s line
-6 hose to pump
-6 90* female
-10 female to -6 male reducer

outlet
-8 female to -6 male reducer
-6 90* female
-6 hose to filter
-6 90* female
-8 female to -6 male reducer
-8 earls filter
-8 female to -8 female coupler
-8 fuel log

Barry Grant makes a -8AN fitting that works without any modifications. I used that on my pump. Take a look in their catalog. I got mine from Summit.

How about this Earl's fitting?
Link Here (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp&part=EAR%2D985086ERL&N=120+4294924496+4294924493+304541)
It says it is -8 AN to 9/16 in. x 18 port thread with O-ring. Would the O-ring work in place of the crush washer?

This is the same as the outlet fitting on this pump. The thread is actually a 5/8X18 - the same thread as a 3/8 inverted flare fitting. It's a straight thread - that's the reason for the sealing washer.
