Have come across a 1970 454 oil pan and timing chain cover. Might be using oil pan for a 67 camaro. The timing chain cover i just noticed has numbers stamped in front above the timing tab. What are these for? The timing tab is a 8 inch factory tab. The engine was dated 1970 so thats why i assume the cover and pan are 1970.

The numbers usually indicate a date.. What are the numbers, can you post a picture?

I took pics but can not post. Looks like from inside a backward 70 and before it something else. Maybe a single number or letter and then little space and then 70 stamped from the front. The timing tab has the AOR and cut at a 45* angle on top.

I cleaned cover and now looks like an up arrow then a 70.
Does this mean 1970 and what is the arrow?

The first numbers are the week then the year which is 70 of course. Try reading from backside and front side. I sure there were some made that werent stamped the greatest.
