: Radio antenna question...

I bought a 69 chevelle convert with an original am/fm radio and no external antenna. There is an antenna wire coming out of the radio that goes up to and into the firewall near the front speaker. I have tried everything to determine where this wire goes with no luck. It appears to go into the cowl area but does not come out. It is firmly in place and I can't move it in or out of the firewall. Question: Has anyone seen this type of installation? What could it be hooked up to? It does work but not great. I plugged in an external antenna to the radio and it didn't work that much better so I don't know if I want to cut a hole for an antenna or not. Ideas???? Thanks...

Check the center of the windshield for two little wires imbedded in the glass.

69 antennas..rear mount on rear quarter pass side..AM only..telescoping ( oval ) optional. On front fender pass side..rigid mast AM and AM/FM..no windshield antenna on 69 models. Hope this helps.

My 69 is the "telescoping ( oval )" on the passenger's front fender with AM/FM radio so I guess it's wrong.
