I recently bought a 70 ls6 low milage car. Not perfect but nice , On the build sheet one of the many options was rpo-cd2 fiber low washer fluid .Anyways it will take time to put the car back the way it was and some things may be very exspensive. Is 450.00 to much to pay for this part or is that what its going for thanks Dave

I don't think I would pay $450 for a low washer fluid warning. Hell, I'm having a hard time coming to grips with a $450 Aluminum radiator! Just run it until it no longer squirts, then you know it's empty!

Ya ,I feel your right ,it is a little steep and it wont make the car go any faster. I guess I was wondering if I will come across one again or is it that rare. Thanks for the reply

I don't know how rare they are, but I think they were only offered in the first month of the 70 model year production (I think). If you going for the full restoration "stock" trailer queen type car I might look for one, but if your going to drive it and do other mods I wouldn't bother.

Good Luck!

If you had the coin to buy a low mileage legitimate LS6, I really have a hard time believing you would be in any pain spending 450. on a restored or NOS super Rare option. Once again, what you intend to do with the car has a lot of bearing upon where you'll spend you're money, but I'm thinking since you took the time to be looking for something as often overlooked as a washer monitor there inlies your answer. Buy the part, and have it even if you don't install it right away; the next time you see one it's likely to cost 3x's what it cost now.

Look, I was able to buy this car from a friend who owned it for the last 16 years and only raced it in the quarter. Before him the original owner only raced it and never registered it, hence 18800 miles. The car is an orig. ls6 and its a right time right place sort of deal. And it wasnt a whole lot of coin ,lucky me, But I had to still beg ,borrow and steal to get it. So now that I have the build sheet I'm just trying to see what it will take to put some of the orig. things back on the car etc. rr wndo defog washer fluid light. I am going to register it as an antique drive it on weekends and join a chevelle club here in the northeast. I plan on using this web site to share and access the wealth of knowledge here. Again I relize how lucky I am to get this car what I would consider cheap. I am very lucky to meet a guy who has been around chevelles and racing for 35 years. He has been nice enough to let me get a blast to the past in a nice chevelle. Thanks for the info. Dave

All the little things will cost you a fortune depending on what your looking for. As for the windshield washer moniter that's for sale on
E-bay right now for 450.00, good luck to the seller. There are 2 different units as far as these go, and I suspect he's looking to go on vacation with this one. I'd say it's worth 275-300, no more or less. Just my .02

704ever. It is a super clean car and I will post pics. your answer was the advice I was looking for. i will hold off till I find reasonable prices - swap meets or here under classified. I am just anxious with something I ve wanted for so long. Right now we have to take it out of race form and put it in street form. I will take pictures along the way then post them Thanks, Dave

Not very many around so you'll probably have a tough time finding one any cheaper unless you just happen to get lucky.

If you want to restore the car back to original, be prepared to spend BIG bucks for the correct parts.
Just make sure they ARE correct for the car.

I've passed on parts I needed before because they were too expensive.

$150 for Original NOS 1970 Red floor mats.

That was 2 years ago.........

I still havent found another set.......... And I look almost daily on E-bay.

If you need it, and it's mint, you better get it.

As noted, it depends on what you want to do.

The price of most orig trinket parts annoys me a lot, and is probably why I am not big on the resto thing.

If you want that gadget, and it is the right one, it's probably worth buying.

Lately, it seems that every time I buy some little thing to make the Chevelle look a bit more like a Chevelle, it comes up with a similar need for a part to make it run.

I choked on the repro $175 windshield wiper motor that I just installed!
