We are in a dilemma here hope some one will shed light on this..

We are installing a fresh 427 and we purchasse a
nice aluminium Elderbrock Water pump.

Now my friend is telling me to block all hole
at the intake and pump and im not shure of that
i always install the by pas hose from the intake to the pump.

he is telling me i dont need it?

I also install a power flow addapter to the oil
filter that eliminate the by pas for the oil and force the flow true a K&N oilFilter he is telling me i will burm bering ? that i need the by pass. In a hot rod mag they are promoting the benifit of kleen oil. i have install a hi volume pump like they mention well that enuff

what do you have to say i need help

thank guy

1 You can block the bypass if you use a bypass thermostat like the Robertshaw high performance ones that have three 3/16" holes in them.
Check here. Thermostats (http://www.stewartcomponents.com/html/products/thermostats.asp)

2. You will not burn up the bearings if you block the bypass, we do it in all our engines as long as we know they are going to someone that has sense enough to change the oil & filter regularly :D
It is a good idea to warm the engine a little before going out & hammering on it as you can get some pretty high pressure spikes with cold oil.

Alain, I completely agree with Mike's advice. I run the Robertshaw thermostat, but I have not blocked the oil bypass. With a blocked oil bypass even in sunny warm SoCal a person still needs to give some warm up time before giving any revs. In your climate a warm up is even more important. What Mike didn't say about those high psi spikes if revs are given when the engine is cold is that they can blow an oil filter right off the engine. Now surely THAT will burn up your bearings!

thank you for your info.. yep for the oil by pas

in the HR mag they do mention that a warm up periode is recomended specialy if a 20.50 oil is use... we are using a lucas Racing oil it is awsome..we use that in my small block and i did not belive the the rep story of drop in temp and up oil stability in presure.

but he was right we ran cooler by 18.degre
and the oil psi was 55psi going in the box
during the burn out up to 70 and at the light
back to 55psi.. we always got a drop to 35 with a hi volume pump.

i will order a robertshaw termostat and that will
awnser the cooling by pass.

for the oil they do recomend a Electrique fan it help get to running temperture faster..

any more input ?

Thank you all
