I am in the process of trying to decide on what type of front inner fenders to replace the old ones with in my Malibu . Not really concerned about "factory correct" but would like to have them look somewhat original. Has anyone bought the plastic type and do they fit correctly? What about durability ? I have steel now do the replacements fit easily or do they need to be fought with to fit correct. And finally those that have purchased inner fenders whom have you had good luck with ? Thank you !

Plastic ones will break easier if you have to fight to get them to fit right. I bought steel ones from OPG. Pass side was a little tight and one of the holes didnt line up perfect but they can be tweaked a little bit and bent if you have to.

I've considered this myself. there are aparently pros and cons on both sides. I guess it all really comes down to the quality of your install. I think the plastic ones crack because they are installed too tightly and/or with the wrong hardware.

The plastic ones have always had a crack problem. Had nothing to do with fasteners or installation, but rather the stress imposed on this piece from age, mileage, road vibration, etc. Also, other than the fact that you are getting the same material construction as original, there is nothing about repro plastic that is anywhere close to authentic. My advice is stay with the steel ones. there is really no advantage to the plastic ones.
