Don't do that!!!!!

The correct 70 SS carb, for both 396-350HP, and LS-5 with 4 speed is #7040205. Do not listen to some books that list #7040201. This is for a 70 with a closed element air cleaner 402-330HP, only available in a Malibu. This info comes directly researched off of build sheets. The intake is #3955287. Factory A/C makes no difference on both. Both of these are dated, so you may want to get the production date of engine for the intake, and production date of car (Carb) before you look to be sure they match up. Good Luck!!!!

Hi Steve,
That is a Rochester Quadrajet. Carter also produced Quadrajets, but I have yet to see a #7040205 built by Carter. They look identical, as both companies were making them. As I understand it from an old time carburetor insider, Carter was the original designer of the Quadrajet, and sold the rights to Rochester, which in turn licensed Carter to make them as well. Makes good business sence from GM's point of view. To have more than one supplier in case of a plant closing, strike, etc. AC Delco at that point had no involvement in the production of carburetors.
