Can you please let me know, what size tires and type came on a 1970 Chevelle LS6? I believe I like the Goodyear look better then Firestone. Could the 1970 LS6 Chevelle have the Goodyear tires? If so, what is the size and type?

There were tires from different manufacturers including Uniroyal, Firestone, Goodyear (the most common three), and BF Goodrich, General (Which are somewhat rarer). Generally, the LS-6 will have F70-14 tires, but a few El Camino sheets show G70-14 tires. My El Camino had the F70's. Also, whitewall tires could be ordered, if so desired. What a suprise, nobody is hurrying out there to restore one this way. The goodyears and Firestones are the most common used reproductions. Nobody makes a repro of any of the others. Uniroyals are my personal favorite, but Goodyears are probably the best of available tires. Don't like the 'stones, and I refuse to use them on anything, not then, and not ever.

Trivia: I ordered my SS 454- LS-5--M-22 El Camino in Feb. 70, It was built in March-70 Balt. It came delivered with " B.F. Goodrich Silvertown with a white stripe " I have a picture of the Camino from Nov. 1970 parked in the snow at the Ski Resort ( Seven Springs)I was working at.
Today its a trailer Queen and lives in a heated garage. But in 70 It was all I had to drive. The reason I will not forget this? I was playing Bass in a band using a Sears Amp. The guys in the band would jack me up about my tires Silvertown, The Amp I was using was a Sears " Silvertone ". Why do you have SEARS tires on your new truck?
It may not be that funny, But I will never for the tire issue with the band guys. I agree with Jeff, NOT all SS cars came with White lettered tires-Good Year or Firestone. Well mine didnt, about a 3/8" white stripe. Gosh, Will this stir the pot?

Our '69 SS Chevelle also came with whitewalls. Whitewalls were the old man image back then.
