I have a 67 300 Deluxe, and the wipers will not park. If I ground the wiper motor with a jumper wire then they keep on running in the off position. Has anybody ran in to this? Bob...

There is a switch on the motor that remains closed until the wipers are in the rest position when the dash switch is moved to off. The wheel on the motor has a detent that allows the park switch to open (or maybe close, I can't remember which) only at that point in travel. Sounds like the switch has gone to ground or is out of adjustment. If I can find an old motor I'll snap a photo for you. Or if you have the Fisher Body Manual there are good photos and troubleshooting tips in it.

Sounds like the wipers have had the park switch fail.

I studied this for the last two weeks, and tinkered with my 66.

The motor grounds through the switch on the dash in low and high. When you turn the switch off, the park switch remains in the on position, powering the motor from the power input wire from the switch and fuse, until the motor gets to the position where the park switch opens and cuts power.

The service manual does have details of how to disassemble and repair the motor.

I elected to get a new motor from Year One and install. Afterwards, I finally got the old one to work on the bench.

The whole wiper setup is very sensitive to having the motor case and the dash switch case grounded.

As promised a photo. The white object is the park switch, when operating the catch lever is held in by an internal coil, when the dash switch is turned off the lever pops out and stops the motor in the proper position. This position is off. If the lever gets stuck in the retracted position the wipers will not stop running. Pulling the washer assembly off will allow you to watch what is happening.
