I'm wondering when is the best window of opportunity to buy my flight to Chevelleabration this year. From comparing various travel sites, it seems to be fairly even across the board on price, but keeping the same days of the week, and varying the weeks, I find that about a month ahead seems to be the time when prices dip a bit, to fill flights quicker. Does anyone know if this holds true into the peak travel season too? I can see by hotel room rates that the end of May is the end of the off season. I'm lookin' to get the best value on the flight, and that got me to thinking, because when I booked my trip 4 years ago, the window for best pricing was around 15 days, and this was for travel in July. Anyone have any professional or insider tips on this?
Thanks, Darren
Hey D
This one has some good tips but it looks like it was written by the owner of faircompare:

Thanks, Jeff. Those suggestions are right in line with my "research", if you will. ;) I'll have to check out the guy's site, they have 1 year historical fare info that'll show me if summer does go down or not.

Interesting. I went to check the airlines themselves, and found cheaper airfare about 1 month out also, and it's better connections than the travel sites. So if I check in a month or so, and it's looking to be about the same, I'll be good to go. If I do see it creeping up when adjusting the weeks in advance, I can just buy at that time. It's all a game. Now I'm going to have to check on Tuesday, which is my planned travel dates, see if they release cheap fares then for the month ahead. ;)
