In getting my baby running again.

I have a 350 small block that I bought completely rebuilt some 12 years ago. My Chevelle has been sitting in a garage for 17 years. Procrastination at its finest I know. It has been sitting ever since. Being a complete noob at this game, I am learning as I go.

We took the first step today and I got a little pumped about it. I am told I am in good shape. Fuelly (sp?) heads, flat top pistons, bored 30 over, and the cylinders are clear and clean. Heads are spotless, all this after sitting 12+ years. The motor has never been run. I am told this is all good news and that a gasket kit and a dress kit for show and it should run. That's it. I was suprised.

Sorry, I am a little pumped tonight that just maybe I will hear her run this summer.

Congrats on getting motivated. My car sat in my garage for a little over 11 years before a friend embarrassed me into getting it on the road. I owe him a great debt of graditude. You just need to do little things to keep yourself motivated. Even if it is just cleaning up a bracket and painting it for later, just do something even if it is just a very minor thing.

Mine sat for 8 years, but it wasn't lack of motivation...it was lack of money! Look at it now, it will be painted by friday :hurray:

Talk about a slow poke! I bought my 66 SS in June 1991 with a rebuilt 396/325 and a muncie 4 speed. Fired up for the first time and broke in the cam this last November, drove the Chevelle around the block (uh...20 times) three weeks ago. Let's see, mid 1991 to spring 2008, thats 16+ years. We could be tied wambam!

Now, instead of wondering if the car will actually or ever run, I am now tweaking it getting ready to be street legal. Today, I finished the front end alignment and sanded the horns to make good grounds. This is FUN TIME!!
