I just ordered air bags for my rear coils today from Summit. They should arrive next week for the install. Does anyone have any installations tips before I start?

Just installed mine on the '72 last week. Straight forward instructions, and quite simple. I would determine where you want your air fill valve, trunk, or license plate area. They also come with heat deflectors, (to keep the air bags cool, from hot exhaust) you will want to use them. Also, watch for any areas where the plastic air line can rub, and chafe against the frame, or the coils, and put a hole in your line.

Get a mini-vac, suck all the air out and put the cap back on. Helps when jamming them in between the coils.

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of the above info is exactly what I would give you, so I have nothing to add except that I put the ari valve on two of my cars behind the license plate.
My 76 Cutlass has 2 air valves which allows me to make adjustments on each side as needed.

Tom, the two valves are a good idea, thanks:hurray:

Never run with the bags empty...always keep at least 5 lbs in them.
Ditto on the dual air lines...

Question on these - are these like "Hi Jackers" - that lift the rear up??

While they DO lift the rear up, that is not their real purpose. They are supposed to even out the suspension for the drag strip so you can leave straight.

However, I use them to get an inch rise out of the rear, as I think many others do. They will not go as high as air shocks, which are kind of a bad idea anyway IMO - the air shocks can break off the upper shock mount.

You may wind up with a little more ride height, but definately NOT like high jackers. The purpose of air bags is to preload the spring to control wheel hop and distribute weight evenly over the back axle. (like in a hard, drag racing type launch)

We must've been typing at the same time, Mark. LOL

I am installing these to even out the height of the rearend. There are two Chevelle Team members that took my car and rebuilt my front and rear suspension and for some unkown I have a height difference. Thanks Bill and Dana:beers:
