How do you know which A/C brackets a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 should have? It is my understanding that there is a 1st design (1969-70) and a 2nd design (1970-75). I am guessing there is a date that Chevrolet switched over to the 2nd design and wondered if anyone might know when that was? Also, I assume the build date of my car would be the date to use to determine this??? Unfortunately, my car is missing all the A/C brackets. Any help with this would be great and thanks in advance! :thumbsup:

Build date would help. My best guess is you have the 69-70 style brkts. And you cannot inter-mix --Some early 70 and late 70s. Same with the hoses. Not positive but most all 70s have the 69-70 style brackets.

Thanks, Bob. So my question now is did any 70 Chevelles have the 2nd design BB A/C brackets? Apparently not? I wonder is anyone has a car that originally had the 2nd design brackets? They must have made some cars that way as they are sold that way. I do agree that I only see the first design on cars...when I have paid attention. There just has to be some documentation (so I know 100% for sure) what brackets my car had. If the hoses are different, I will look more closely at them and maybe they will give me a clue but right now can't even remember if any of those are still on the car. Thanks!
