All have is a master cylinder right now and the brakes pump very low the start feeling pressure.
I have discs in the front and drums in the back.
I'm restoring this car and the brakes are last thing I have to do and they are giving me some problems. I have never drove this car.
My question is do I need a brake booster? And do I need a special booster and MC to fit for discs in the front and drums in the back? If so what do I need?

You need a Disc/drum mc and proportioning valve for sure. The power booster is optional.

When I bought my car the previous owner had set the car up for racing and removed alot of parts. I also have disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear. The car was scary to bring to a halt. I've since reinstalled the brake booster with the proper push bar that links the pedal to the booster and it's all good!

Yes you need a brake booster.
When front disc brakes were introduced in 1967, vacuum assist was a requirement, not an option. It sounds like someone may have added disc brakes to your car but didn't upgrade the rest of the system. To answer your other question, there is a special master cylinder, booster and proportioning valve for disc brakes.

Allright I installed a brake booster from kragens and bleeded the brakes and now everything feels good. No other parts were installed. Thanks

Glad to hear you got the problem fixed but for future reference there is no requirement that you must use a booster. It is an assist device and nothing more.

Have you ever tried to stop a 3800lb car in a hurry? I say a booster is required!!!

Of coarse some people will need the assist while others may not.

So what happens now with no proportioning valve?
I have always heard that was part of the swap...
