I ordered a Shafiroff 540 shortblock that should be arriving really soon. I have an oil pan dilemma. I am worried about fitting headers with a kicked out oil pan. I am also worried about ground clearance as this car will see the streets quite often. So I basically think I am looking for something like a stock pan but that will clear the 4.25" stroke. Or maybe my header clearance fears are unfounded and there won't be a problem? Any advice is greatly appreciated! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I used a Milodan stock looking oilpan so those scrutinous are are none the wiser. No clearance issues for me, but I dont have huge aluminum or h beam rods.

I'm using a Milodon #30950 (7qt kickout) with Hooker 2 1/8" Super Comps. NO clearance problems- at least with the oilpan! smile.gif
Spark plugs are a different story... :(

I use the Moroso 20401 pan and Hooker competition 2" headers. no problems at all. Pan is designed to clear 4.25 stroke without modification....and it did!

he' ben,
i've order a merlin 111, 540 ci(10.200").
And on the bottom a milodon street/strip oil-pan.
And they say it fits well with 2 1/8"super comp headers(hooker).
I'll hope its right!! :D

EDDY merlin Right now it's a Shafiroff shortblock:
Merlin II block
Eagle Forged/Nitrided crank-4.25" stroke
Eagle H-beam rods with L19 rod bolts
SRP Pistons
Speed Pro rings
Clevite H series bearings
I am planning on getting some AFR 315 magnum heads, solid roller, Stewart water pump and other goodies. All in all it will be FUN!
