Hi
I just change head gasket and put back in the distributor, how do I adjust so it will fire in the right order.
Its a Moroso ignition. I have the cable right so I need to know how to turn the thing inside the distributor.

I think I need to turn this so it will be at number 1 when number one piston is at the top, is that right?

Yes. When the number 1 piston is at the top of the cylinder and ready to fire, point the distributor rotor at the number 1 wire on the cap.

Like Robert said, make sure your #1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke and drop your distributor in so that the rotor contact is pointing toward the terminal that you're going to attach the #1 wire. You won't be able to turn the distributor (rotor) once it has engauged the teeth on the camshaft. Keep in mind that for the rotor to end up at your desired position, you will have to back up a tooth or two so that as it rides down into position it will stop in place. You will see what I mean when you drop it down.

I think I know what you mean, and will try that, but at the bottom of the shaft it looks like it can only go in 2 posisions. I think I might had it 180 degrees wrong from when I took it out.

The bottom of the shaft engages in the oil pump.
When you have the engine AT tdc, look down into the hole with a flashlight and rotate the slot to point toward #1 cylinder with BIG screwdriver.

While someone bumps the starter hold your thumb over the #1 sprark plug hole and when it blows out around your thumb you'll know its on the compression stroke.
