: New motor, trans and rear end....what to break in first?

Heres the deal...just went in with a new 454, Tremec TKO, and Eaton posi and gears. All require a break in procedure of some kind, but in what order should I do it to make sure everything gets a good break in?

Now obviously I would say break in the cam first, but I'm using a roller cam which doesn't require break in. So rings would be the only thing. But they say to break in the Tremec by putting the car on stands and running through the gears for 20 min. But the rear end needs to be broke in for 20 miles (or is it minutes) and then cooled down. And then you got the whole ring issue.

So should I just drive her out of the shop and get the rings seated with some variable throttle runs and assume that was enough to break in the trans and rear end?

Oh and heres a few pics of the project:

With the roller cam, I'd do the trans first and not worry about the rings or rear end. Next do the rear end. Assuming the rings are moly they will seat on their own during the rear end break in, if they haven't seated during the trans break in.

Thats kind of what I was thinking. It would be better to break in the trans with no load on it and then do the rear end and ring break in at the same time.

Does that sound about right for time though as far as the trans and rear end break in?
