Mike,

This last spring I installed a new set of Isky's Red Zone lifters in my BBC. I was running their standard roller lifter and street roller camshaft Pn# 396620 (290 deg / 248 @.050" / .602"). While I had the engine tore into I decided to have the exhaust side of the cam reground for a little more duration and lift. I chose their Master# lobe R-359.

I have street driven this set up all summer (maybe 1000-1200 miles) with no problems. The only issue that I am having, and its not really an issue, is the valve train is noisier than it was with the standard lifters. Before, you could hear the "mechanical lifter" sound but it was not that noticable. With the Red Zones it is more noticable. Not that that is a bad thing, I kind of like it actually (mechanical lifter sound= ).

I have checked the lash 3 times since installing them and all are within .001"-.002" of original lash setting. This difference is most likely due to my error in setting them. The cam calls for a lash of .028" hot, I have them set at .026" hot. (same as old cam / lifters)

Have you or anybody else noticed these lifters being abit noisier than others?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

No, basically the Red Zone is an upgraded "Endurance Plus" lifter with better 3 point oiling system & a new bearing assembly with a larger pin & thicker outer race.

The noise may be a result of the different lobe profile being more aggressive or a slightly different closing rate.
