: 200,000 Miles!
Bad66Chevelle454 Mar 20th, 08, 8:34 AM My little 1996 S-10 rolled over 200,000 miles yesterday. Awesome truck, that's never let me down. I tried to get a picture/video of it, but it was at night and my cellphone camera and regular camera couldnt get it with that little amount of light.
You still see alot of these S-10 on the road...maybe Chevy should take that into consideration.
eyewanta65 Mar 20th, 08, 9:14 AM My 98 Toyota Tacoma 4X4(built in Tacoma Washington by American workers), just hit 200,000 Wednesday night. I can't believe all the stuff on this truck that's still original. I plan on getting the same thing someday, mayby say when I hit 300,000.
MalibuSeaS Mar 20th, 08, 9:23 AM You still see alot of these S-10 on the road...maybe Chevy should take that into consideration.
They did, and they don't make them any more just for that reason! ;)
68chevyed Mar 20th, 08, 9:28 AM Yep my 96 s-10 4x4 hit 200,000 last month. Bought it 9yrs ago with 70,000 on it. Just regular maintence. Had to have new front axles at 160,000. But Rust has taken over on her, She may not look as nice but she runs great!!
mudhog Mar 20th, 08, 9:58 AM 285,000 on chevy Z71 with 35's tires. pull camper and boat and play in the mud. All original motor, tranny etc. a/c compressor started whinning, it still worked, but changed it any way because living in south Texas it gets used a lot thats about the only thing that I had to fix and everything works good, best truck I ever had. bought new in 94.
Bandit1978 Mar 20th, 08, 10:05 AM My 1985 Cavalier which I bought in 1988 and am still driving..!!! will be 20 years this summer..has 258,000 miles on it!!!!
quikss Mar 20th, 08, 11:45 AM My 92 camaro has 197,9XX on it, and other than the tires, water pump, and regular tune up items, nothing else has ever been replaced on it.
My 98 chevy siverado has 188,000 on it, and the only things replaced on it are the fuel pump and alternator. Although it has a pretty annoying miss in it now, so something else will be getting replaced soon enough. Before it had the miss it was averaging almost 18 mpg for me.

DUKE 69 Mar 20th, 08, 12:52 PM Isn't it interesting that this thread is about how long a vehicle will go and in another, the discussion is about how they won't last. Oh, by the way, my '94 C2500 just turned 215,000 last wk. No real maintainence issues to speak of but the intake leaks a little around the front edge, which I guess is normal for the 5.7 engines, esp. as they age. At least is isn't running into the oil pan...yet!
quikss Mar 20th, 08, 1:17 PM I thought the same thing, we have one thread going about how crappy GM vehicles are, and then this thread with multiple vehicles all over or about to be over 200,000 miles with minimal repairs.
Jeff
Usually I defend the 215,000 miles I have on my 93 caravan, because I bought it new and serviced it regular (2 trannies).
But I put 135,000 on my 96 Silverado 4x4, and I bought that one with 80,000 on the clock.
Yeah, it's had some maint. (2 trannies), intake & power steering pump that I couldn't do, but everything else was me.
And after this month, I will have the wife's 99 Blazer paid off (125,000 miles).

Holy crap! I had one that I bought in 1988 with 105k on it. Blew a head gasket at 178K 7 years later. My dad, the world's premier skinflint, told me maybe I should buy a new car. When the world's premier skinflint says it's time to buy a new car, it's probably time to buy a new car.
Alan Mar 20th, 08, 1:45 PM My '97 S-10 is about to roll past 160,000 miles. But had the air foil on the underside of the throttle body throttle blade fall off and into the #4 cylinder at 91k. Tore the heads off and had a valve job done, new throttle body, and a bunch of other tune-up related parts. Recently, I replaced the suspension and brakes in full. Rolling this sucker for at least another 10 years :D . Been reliable, but had some hiccups here and there :p It's the one vehicle (besides the Chevelle) I've owned that I really enjoy driving.
Bad66Chevelle454 Mar 20th, 08, 4:21 PM I know the trans was rebuilt before I bought it, then it lost second gear. So I put in a brand new crate tranny. New alternator. New water pump. Other then that, just maintenance items(plugs, wires, shocks, oil, filters).
Bowtie70ss Mar 20th, 08, 4:43 PM Ask anyone American cars are junk!! LOL Then you'll hear about how Toyotas and Hondas are built here because they want to employ us YAY.
bubba68ss Mar 20th, 08, 6:01 PM 140K miles on the 99 ZR2. AWESOME truck

What motor do you have in that? 4.3? My 97 S-10 zr Blazer with a 4.3 has about 160000 on it now and looks and runs like new. Oil pressure is the same as new and when I'm sittin at a light, its hard to tell the damn thing is running. Still averages 19 mpg. Only major repair was the intake gasket. It did let me down once when the fuel pump failed at about 110000. I have most of the dealer recommended maintenance done when needed. Cheaper than a new vehicle payment. I plan on driving it till it falls apart.
mr 4 speed Mar 20th, 08, 6:24 PM My daily driver is a 93 4 door 4.3 Blazer 4x4
Had it for 9 years and it has close to 156,000 on it now (bought it w/50K)..I plan on going for 200K so congrats to you!
Keith Tedford Mar 20th, 08, 6:46 PM Our old '87 S10 with the 2.8 just won't die. It has 150 K miles on it. Pumped full of Fuidfilm and Rustchek, it pretty well can't rust out from the inside. It doesn't get used much but has had zero maintenance in the last 10 years other than tires, oil, filter, and grease. The engine and transmission work fine. Our 2005 Jimmy with 50K miles has been zero problem up until now. The front brakes got noisy just lately and it turned out that one of the brake pads had separated from its backing plate. Plate on rotor isn't good. Our '94 Saturn had over 230 K miles on it and was still running fine. Regular scheduled maintenance has a lot to do with it. Check out a Toyota or Honda dealership. Their shops are busy too. A Toyota mechanic pointed this out to me.
1badss396 Mar 20th, 08, 6:49 PM My 97 F250 7.3 has 215,000 hard miles on it and runs like a champ.
busterwivell Mar 20th, 08, 6:59 PM Like I said on the other thread..........I drove my 86 Monte Carlo SS to work today, it has 236,000 on it. Never been a problem, never left me stranded.........but I'm sure if I own it long enough, it will someday.
70ChevelleRagtop Mar 20th, 08, 10:13 PM I have a '99 S10 with the 2.2. Bought it last year with 129,000 on the clock. Getting close to turning 150,000 and it purrs like a kitten and doesn't burn any oil. The little 2.2's get a lot of disrespect but I have to admit, I love this truck and it's gas mileage. I don't know why I didn't buy one a long time ago. My full size crew cab just sits 99% of the time now unless I have a really big hauling job or need to plow some snow.
Stokerboats Mar 20th, 08, 10:27 PM My 78 omega still has R12 and although it is 30 it still blows ice cold. But I did install a new 350 goodwrench in it a year ago. Not because the original engine quit but it was getting tired after all those years.
rianbechtold Mar 20th, 08, 10:50 PM My 92 gmc 1500 has a 7 inch lift, 33 inch tires etc.. and with all that stress, the little 4.3L has 190,000 miles on it with NOTHING other than plugs, cap, and wires. And these aren't freeway miles we're talking, my dad bought the truck new and works in construction he probably started and drove short distances about 30 times a day for 10 years!:D
Bad66Chevelle454 Mar 21st, 08, 8:49 AM Mine has the 2.2 liter
Here's my truck(the right one). My buddies 1500 in the middle with 160+ on the odometer, and my other buddies S-15 with over 100+ on the odometer.

Wheelhop Mar 21st, 08, 8:54 AM My 99 Ford F250 superduty 7.3 powerstroke diesel has 203,000 miles on it and runs like new! Only thing slowing her down is the price of fuel, OUCH!!!
