Hi Guys:

I'm beginning the process of restoring my 66 396 SS, I want to know if there is any advantage to replacing the floor and trunk panels while the body is still on the frame or off the frame. Any help would be grealy appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Mike,
I am new to the restoration thing, but I just did all my floor pans recently from front to rear and I used 1 piece pans and left the body on the frame to do this. The body will come off soon after I finish welding them in place and it will go on the rotiserie to finish the bottom off. I also installed new body bushings to help retain all of the alignments of body to frame. It has worked out very good for me so far. If you choose to do it this way make sure you keep the wheels on the ground so that the frame does not flex itself.

I did mine on the frame. If you use the one piece with rockers, you have no choice but to take the body off the frame.
