Jimmy,

Thanks for the info..

A great device for ease of tuning. I was all pumped up until I saw it was $435....yikes!

Wish I could see a picture of the inside. Or I'll just figure it out on my own. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

look at an HEI with a vacuum advance. cut the canister off, threaded rod, a nut, a knob, you're in business. I made something similar about 20 years ago. Also if you're running mechanical only or locked and picky about the rotor tip having proper phasing with the contacts in the cap you can pull the vacuum advance halfway and tack weld or otherwise pin the rod down.

you can also limit the vacuum advance of canisters that have too much advance by using small pieces of thin steel (I used old feeler gauges, already had the hole drilled!) bolted down under the inner vac advance bolt. grind them off to the proper length to stop the rod as it pulls back towards the canister.

Lot's of tricks here.

How 'bout we make it new school and incorporate a knock sensor and a little motor for the hands off approach?

It's fun to type and dream. smile.gif
Maybe this is why I don't own a small business. :D

Definitely not a big stretch to figure out how that works. It's a really cool idea though. Wish I'd thought of it.

Mike, maybe you could invent one with a servo to control it. It'd be nice to have an encoder of some sort so you could read the timing advance from the driver's seat while you dial it however you want it.
