This air cleaner came with my SS454 El Camino when I bought it back in '82. I always assumed it was the original unit. The Car is a '71 SS 454 Non Cowl/ Non A/C car. Can anyone confirm it is correct or if it is not, what it is? I also have info that it might be a '71-'72 LS3 Camaro cleaner. Anyone know? (I know the sticker is repro)

I want to be sure and put this car back together with the right one.

TIA

Jon

That looks like the correct air cleaner to me for a non-cowl, non-a/c LS5. Pretty hard to come by, you're lucky to have it. The A/C air cleaner, non-cowl is the same except only one snorkel to the passenger side to make room for the compressor.

Jon,
Correct on both accounts above. It shows in the '71 SS396 Camaro picture of the engine compartment in the sales brochure. On the '71 El Camino, if you have a build sheet, box 53 will show a code "CL" for the dual snorkel air cleaner! I don't know about Camaro except that I recall seeing the image that I mentioned above in the Camaro sales literature.
