I'm curious as to what people think about Power Valves in Holley Carbs and what was experienced when they were removed.
How was Idle quality ? compared to w/ Power Valve?
How many steps you went up with the Jets ?
How did ET and MPH compare ? Incremental times ?
Whats " Your " reason for removing them ?

Refresher-
Removing both of the powervalves is something that should only be done to a strip only car.

As you know the powervalve is a switch that when activated will increase the effective jetting by approx 10 sizes.

When you remove the powervalve you need to jet up approx 10 sizes to net the same air/fuel ratio. This means that you will be delivering a full rich mixture during part throttle driving around under light throttle, crusing back to the pits, or driving on the street.
As a result it will foul plugs rather quickly with the front powervalve plugged. The secondary is considerd a must do to most since you only use them under full throttle conditions.

Some remove the powervalves to reduce the possability of one blowing and causing a variation in E.T.
In reality this very seldom happens.

IMHO-

I have set up two friends cars with the front and rear powervalve removed and jetted in.There was no difference in E.T.

One car ran 1.59 60's with a 10 inch converter.
It runs 11.50's.
The other was on a transbreak equipped 10.50 car.
I can't remember the 60's, it was about 5 years ago.

Both cars ran the same ET's and now cost more to operate because of plug replacement.
PV's were reinstalled on both vehicles.

Leave the front in. The rear can be plugged since when the secondaries are open you need the enrichment anyway. Just jet up the secondaries to compensate.
