can any one tell me how the gas tank brackets go on a 66 chevelle are they welded in an were do they bolt up pictures would be fantastic thank you

The gas tank braces ( aka straps ) on a 66 slide into an opening in the front ( near the rear diff. in the trunk floor braces ), and slide through a 4" carriage bolt that hangs from the trunk floor braces in the back ( behind the bumper). here is a picture of the back of my 66.

You can ( barely ) see the carriage bolts hanging down below the rear frame section. If you need more / better pictures let me know and I will take them for you.

I know about the straps I am looking for info on the bracket I think i found out that they mount to the trunk floor pan welded to the bottom i am guessing or bolted through the pan?? I would still like to see some pics of your 66 it looks awsome
