Thought I'd post this for Dave M. since he's currently without a computer. Here in Houston tonight we got some really good cool/dry air and Dave's car responded with new bests of

60'-1.511
1/8-6.90@99.06
1/4-10.91@121.23

For those that aren't familiar with Dave's (aka Sheetmetal's) combo, he runs a pump gas 383 with ported AFR 195's and hydro roller in a 3600lb 67 chevelle without power adders.

Congrats Dave! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

John, please be sure and pass my congratulations along to Dave! I'm glad to see him finally get into the 10's. It's a great sense of accomplishment graemlins/thumbsup.gif Now I guess we all need to start shooting for the 9's ;)

John,

Please pass my congratulations along to Dave. That is awesome.

Were you able to run your car? Did the electrical, fuel, and traction improvements show to help?

Dang, that's impressive. I can't say I have met Dave. Does he go to any car cruises in the area?

Ken, I'll pass along the congrats. 9's are certainly in the "cross-hairs" for 05'. ;)

Thrasher- He's running 10.7:1, Comp 294hr, Super Vic.

Chevywidow- Yeah, I'm one of the frowners. I keep telling him to think just how fast it would be if he put a real cam in it.

Jason, another missed opportunity. I made the changes we discussed with no improvement. Once I resigned myself to staying home I finally traced the problem down to the 4ga ground cable from the motor to frame. I used some jumper cables for extra grounding and the motor spins and fires like a champ. I'll add another ground strap and try again maybe next Friday or Sunday.

Wayne, Dave has been out to the Woodlands once IIRC. He seems to be more interested in racing than cruising as am I.

What about Wes Colby,,isnt he down in your neck of the woods? has he had his car back to the track with that bug catcher sticking out of the hood?

Robert, I saw Wes' car just after he finished the new blower deal. It was fine! I haven't heard if he ever got it out to the track. I can't speak for Wes but, I don't believe running it at the track was a big priority for him. A bunch of us here in Houston got together at the track a few years ago and put faces with names, it was a good time. I'd love to do that again.

I doubt if the track officials at HRP would let Wes make a pass since he has no roll bar and with that menacing blower poking through the hood. I'm told that the new 1/8 mile track rules are "lax" so he might be able to run it there. But, no matter where he goes, traction is going to be an issue. Wes's car makes a bold visual and audible statement!
