is there anything wrong with running a high volume racing oil pump on a high rpm stroker street/strip motor? since i'll have 14:1 compression and a long duration solid flat tappet cam i won't be doing much cruising around town;just the occasional romp through the neighborhood.i'll have plenty of h.p.from my combo, and i'm going with nitrous so i'm not worried about a little drag on my motor from the high volume pump.i have the msd ready-to-run distributor.do i need anything special in the way of a disributor gear?do i need to adjust recommended bearing clearances or rod side clearances for the high volume pump when i start assembling my mill? thanks a heap..

If it has 14 to 1 it ain't a street motor. I didn't run a HV on any of my race motors that didn't have alum. rods but you aren't going to put 50,000 mi. on the thing so the problems that a HV. pump can cause shouldn't bother you.

thanks,mike.you are correct,its not a street motor.those $80.00 fuel fill-ups and 4000rpm stall won't allow much cruisin' time!i guess a "sleeper" it aint gonna be! tongue.gif gee,i hope i dont get smoked by a honda! :D
