Hi All. I purchased a new GM driver-side mirror from Y1. Nice chrome but mirror is too loose on ball...moves around when you shut the door. Any suggestions? Is Ebay NOS the only solution? Anyone with a spare?
Thanks,
Paul.

I think I would be calling Y1 and complaining, getting another or my money back. I just bought a set for my 72 from OPGI. Hope i don't have the same problem. OPGI says they have the better made ones.(REPOP) We'll see!! ;)

are you sure it's nos or a repo? either way y1 should replace it or if you want to spend the money you can get one from your gm dealer they are still available if you have the rectanguler style.

This is gonna sound stupid, but it worked for a loose mirror I had. I turned the mirror upside down and adjusted it as far up as I could. Then put super glue on the ball and worked the mirror around. when the glue hardened it added enough grit to the ball for the mirror to hold in position
You can move the mirror to an extreme, to expose the ball mount, take a sharp punch and put a couple divits in the ball at an angle, move the mirror back to where you want it.
It will stay and still be adjustable.

These loose mirrors were giving problems several years ago. I'm surprised that the manufacturers haven't done anything about it.

I just installed a set of mirrors that I bought from True Connections. They fit and function just fine on my 71.
