can anybody tell me what the orange wire going to the starter on my 69 chevelle is for???

Are you sure its for the starter and not the heater???? ;) Starter wires are usually purple, yellow and sometimes black.

Hey Levon' that org wire is taped in with the purple & yellow wire' every thing else is in place'heater-a/c,etc, when i bought the car it had points, in the original harness i found wire for HEI,the orange wire goes half way to starter with purple & yellow and is capped off, its got me,

Got me. It may be one that was added for some power accessory? Chase it from source through the harness and see where it goes to at the other end.

It goes to the heater on non A/C cars and goes nowhere on cars with A/C.

Hey Dean, thanks for the info on that orange wire, being that the car is unmolested that makes sense, sorry for posting in the wrong location, im not too bright when it comes these computers, im better at working on my 69 velle, thanks again....

I had the exact same question answered right here a few years ago when I found the extra wire on my 69.
