Well I finally stabbed the engine today and when I was dead tired and ready to close shop I noticed the exhaust was not going to clear the cross member  Did a search and found out I'm not only one. :(

Guys these headers are a pain. Here is a list of the problems I had, but for sure the exhaust is #1 on the list.

Lakewood needed to be notched.

Moroso oil pan kick out partially removed.

clutch return spring needs to be relocated.

Exhaust is in way of cross member.

Starter is super tight may not be able to remove.

Oil filter has to be forced between tube and pan.

Anyone ever contact Hooker to see what there response is? Looking for recommendations on how you got the exhaust to work???

i have the 2116's on my 71 and only problem i had was that i had to notch the crossmember. i bet the kickout pan is the real reason you're having problems. i had 1 5/8" headers, Moroso 7qt pan with kickouts, and stock starter and changing the oil filter or starter were a real PITA! i now have the 2116's with 7qt Moroso pan without kickouts and still a stock starter and it is all 100% easier than the previous set up. no starter clearance problems at all, oil filter is easily accessible. i do have an automatic though, with a column shifter. BTW, what starter are you running? what motor mounts?

Yeah the kickout was definitely a big mistake! Next time I yank the engine that'll be the first thing I change! I'm running Energy suspension mounts and a stock starter. I can deal with the other stuff for now, the main thing is the damn exhaust!

So notching worked out pretty good for ya?? Was it as strong? Got any pics?

I had the exact same problem, and im sure when you ran the search you probaly found a few posts on this, and i have replied to all of them saying the kickout pan will not work with the 2116's. I even emailed the guy that used to post here from Hooker and he said he would update the "footnotes" on that header to say that they wont fit with a kickout...guess he didnt get around to doing it. :(
