: I just added 100 horsepower, feels like it anyway.
ToocoolZ28 Nov 5th, 04, 9:47 PM I just replaced my 2.20 1st gear Muncie with a Tremec TkO500 (3.27 1st gear). While I was waiting for the driveshaft I put a quick change kit for the secondarys on my 750 vac seconday Holley using the light yellow spring. I got it all together yesterday and after putting about a hundred miles on it breaking it in I decided to wring it out a little. Coming out of the hole it just jumps out and smokes the rear tires, hitting second is wild, it feels like its trying to jump off the ground, 3rd is there too fast and the speedo is WAY up there. My very mild mannered 427 is now a wild animal. I couldnt be happier. I thought I would get better gas mileage with the overdrive but it's not possible, I cant keep my foot out of it now. :D

Pat Kelley Nov 5th, 04, 11:07 PM Looks like you should buy stock in the consumable automotive products industry, tires and fuel :D .
I'm a dyed in the wool Pontiac guy but in my heart the '70 Chevelle is a very close second. Had a '70 and yours is a very nice '70 IMHO. Good for you that the tranny swap turned out and you are pleased with it. Sounds like lots of fun. It's nice when projects turn out for the better and have few downsides.
Ron, Did you have to make any clearance mods to your trans tunnel?
mr 4 speed Nov 6th, 04, 5:14 AM Ron,glad the swap worked out..very cool graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Redmanf1 Nov 6th, 04, 7:42 AM Sounds like a great combo. The best thing is it makes you happy. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I assume this trans swap was in your 70 Chevelle? I am very interested to hear/see what you had to do to get it in there. Got any pics of the install?
Bob West Nov 6th, 04, 11:33 AM too much gear, you'll never hook it up, more gears just make better use of the big block torque, might be fun for you,but I got tired of shifting gears all the time.

Maybe, but this trans is sooo much better than the M21 with my 3.31 rear. Besides, my daily driver is a Z28 with 4.10s and a 6 speed so shifting isnt an issue with me.

Nickel333 Nov 7th, 04, 2:10 PM 100 miles!!!!! Man tremec tells you to go 500 miles before you ring on it. Id hate to see you have to replace stuff in a brand new transmission. Just a heads up.
427L88 Nov 7th, 04, 4:37 PM Stick cars just can't have enough gear! I'm sure Ron held back just a little bit and didnt pull any 6500 rpm powershifts!
Did ya Ron? :D
