How do I turn off some programs that start up automaticly when the computer starts up? My daughter has installed some programs that really slow things down, Like Kodak easy share and a couple of others. I use this computer every day and she just uses it about 2 times a month. Very annoying.
Thanks. Windows XP

Most programs can be turned off from starting with the operating systems in their own setups.
You might look at the options in each program -Yeah it's tedious but I don't know how much you know to stay out of trouble.
I use this:
http://www.whatsrunning.net/whatsrunning/main.aspx
If you install it ,look at item "Startup-11".
Those are whats starting with your OS.
I'm not big on msconfig.

C:\Douments and Settings\<your use id>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Any shortcuts in that folder are to programs to run at startup. Also look in folder for All Users as well as your user id.

Click start tab at bottom of screen.Click run tab, type in msconfig, hit ok.Click startup tab at the top. Then scroll down and uncheck what you don't want at startup . Becareful not to remove some of the operating programs.

This is the way to do it don't worry about turning off something you need. I generally disable everything except anti virus. You can easily turn the programs back on if it is necessary.
