After searching and reading the archives about all the cam recommendations, I think am more confused or unsure than before I started.
Specs are 454 + .100, 4.25 internally balanced crank, 10.3 SRP pistons, 049 heads 2.19 1.88 valves, Team G oval port intake, 1050 dominator, 2in hooker headers , t400 trans with trans brake, 5000 stall converter , moser 9in 4.11 spool and 28 x 9 slicks. This is in a 69 Drag race only Camaro at 3400 lbs. I may change converter if necessary. I am thinking keeping max RPMs 6800-7000. RPM calcualtor show 6664 @ 135 mph not counting converter slippage.
I have an idea of which solid roller to use but want to see if others come up with same recommendation. I want to run 10.50 - 10.90 in 1/4 mi.

Thanks to all who reply.

Ryan, this combination is very similar to Rafel from Houston. I think your converter is way too loose and will probably push your motor way tighter than you are hoping for. Your also going to blow the tires of it with 5500 RPM of stall speed and your slippage will probably fall into the 8-10% range. Look for mid 10s at 128 MPH to be realistic numbers. If you can get it to run low 10s then you might expect 130-133 trap speeds. High 9s are possible when you pass 135 MPH but engine speeds will probably be 72-7400 RPM with that loose a converter. Re-think the stall speed or back up to a 9" or 10" converter with about 3000-3800 stall speed.

Harold Thanks for the advice. Dropping the stall back to 3500-3800 is something I have been considering. I am still looking for the roller cam recommendation though.

Comp XR286R or XR292R would be a good guess, I would call Comp and tell em what ya got 1.800.999.0853 I am going to be running a special grind version of the 286 in a 468...billet core, cast gear on a 107 LSA.

IMHO, Wait for UDHarold, he has been in Bowling Green, Ky for some training, give him a chance to see this thread.

Leo Thanks ! I'll kick to the top once a day or so. And mid 10's at 128 would be fine. I just wanted to show that at 130 mph with converter slippage the rpm's will be around 7000.
So I can't see needing a cam with anything over 7000 - 7200 on the top end. I'll wait and see what Harold recommends.
