Hey everyone,

I looked over some of the numbers on my engine block and cam up with this:

Casting: 14015445 = Truck 1978 - 1990
Date Code: C 28-4 = Made on March 28 ('84?)
Engine Code: T0404FBD

"T" is for Tonowanda plant
0404 means it was assembled April 4.

I have not been able to find the suffix code "FBD" anywhere...

Can anyone help??

Oh Yeah...

I have a 72 chevelle with a donor 454... I am just trying to get some specs on the motor. 4 bolt, HP etc...

I found it as an 84 C20/C30 truck rated 230hp w/4bbl. No specifics though. Mortec.com says casting number could be 2-bolt or 4-bolt. Not sure even if it is a 4-bolt if it'd have the same oil cooler holes by the oil filter pad that high performance 4-bolt main engines used. Don't go by any castings of HIPER/HIPERF/etc. though - Mortec says that all 65-91 Mark IV blocks had a variation of this cast in the blocks and does not indicate 4-bolt mains.

Thanks alot for the info... I will be tearing down the block to be rebuilt soon and I will see for sure what the mains are. It will be good for my engine builder to know what it's history is though.

What Generation is this block??
