Need some help. I am trying to get a set of headers to fit my 65. I have had no luck up to this point.
Here is what I am needing. Shorty style header, D-port, angle plugs. This is for a GM ZZ4 motor, 700-R4 Trans in a 65 Chevelle. I am on my fourth set of headers from Sanderson and I cannot get a set that will clear the steering shaft. I also tried Hedman and the right side hits the lower control arm frame mount. Does anyone know of a header that would fit this application or have any suggestions?
Sorry for the multiple posts. I don't know what happened. Administrator if you could please delete the duplicates. Thanks.

I would give Patriot a try.
Dave
I found that Dougs Headers makes a shorty style header for my application, so I ordered it last week. It arrived and I tried installing it yesterday. The left side is hitting the lower control arm bracket on the frame. I called Dougs tech support today and they told me that it seems in the earlier Chevelle's the engine sits a little lower in the cradle. He said there were a few different motor mounts for different application and changing to a different mount might fix my problem. If this is true and I had a little taller mount I believe it might just clear the control arm mounting bracket.
I am running a GM ZZ4 350 in my car and used the same style motor mounts that was used on the original 283. Anyone know if there are different motor mounts that might fix my problem?

Thanks Dave,
When I called Pertronix I asked them about the Patriot headers. They told me the Dougs headers are there premium brand and the style is very similar between the two. They said the Dougs headers flange and tubing was thicker and overall a little nicer made. That is why I chose the Dougs headers. I purchased the D304 Dougs headers, they also are to fit the ZZ4 for a 65 Chevelle.
I went back into Pertronix website and I could only find a picture of H8047-1 V2. Not sure if it is the same, but it showed as a full length header. Is it a shorty style? If so maybe I will call and find out what the difference is vs the D304 Dougs header I have.
Attached is a picture of the D304 Dougs header I currenty have. Thanks again for you help.

You want shorties because your car is low to the ground? The 8047 are full length I saw the picture of them they looked great. The 8056-1 is the shortie design.

By the website pic the 8056-1 dumps different than your dougs headers it might be the answer. The 8021-1 looks like the picture you showed me.
