Hi Folks,

The master cylinder booster is beginning to flake paint at the top and show a trail of stain from fluid leaking. What is the best way to clean up the booster? I am thinking of a degreaser to clean and painting over the booster with a silver paint. Am I on the right track? If so, what kind of paint and prep do I need to consider?

Thanks!
Scott

Most factory originals were a gold anodize, some silver also. aftermarket ones were painted black. Depends on your resto how you what it to look. But if you paint it you should atleast remove it and degrease it, sand, primer and repaint with the color of choice.

Degrease it thourghly or the paint wont stick.

No matter what you do, sooner or later you'll have that "trail" again. Try to find a paint that's at least "resistent" to brake fluid.
